About Me

My name is Stefan Szakal. I was born in Carei, and spent my early years in Satu Mare, Romania. After a few years in the US, I moved back to Romania and decided to put down roots in Timisoara. That was 2001. I have been living here ever since.

Career Highlights:

In 2017, I co-founded Homefresh, one of the pioneer meal kit delivery services in Romania. I serve as the company’s CEO, as we’re on our way to grow the service to a national and international market.

In 2012, I founded [e-spres-oh], a tech service company. Among other things, [e-spres-oh] has a team of highly talented developers and designers who work as remote contractors for our clients. Up until January 2018, I was also the CEO. As founder of [e-spres-oh], I continue to be involved, but my focus has shifted to external partnerships and strategic opportunities.

In 2001, I founded X3, an eclectic design agency based in Timisoara. I am proud to have been part of the great team we’ve built. It was also probably the most talented group of people I have ever worked with. Thanks to them, X3 has won a bunch of industry awards and was featured in many specialty books and magazines. While X3 no longer exists, a part of its portfolio is still online on behance.net.

Note: There are many, many more projects and startups I was involved with. I will include them one by one, as I get around to writing about them.

In case you’re wondering why I decided to write this blog, here is my initial post on it. Honestly though, I found that writing with purpose helps me organize my thoughts on a certain topic, regardless if it’s just for me or public consumption.
